It's interesting, I have a good friend who has the same use case as you — he loves being able to blend his personal library that's uploaded to the cloud, with Apple Music's streaming tracks. Even though it doesn't fit my personal paradigm, I do get it — however, I do find it really odd this would be the default approach Apple Music takes. I don't have any data on this, but I am pretty sure a lot, if not most users wouldn't expect their streaming service/app to prefer this use case.

Also the mobile app is indeed miles ahead of its desktop counterpart, but imo still has much to be desired.
